Palika Prashasan/Correspondent: Deepak Fertilizers, located in the Taloja MIDC area under the Panvel Municipal Corporation, had filed a writ petition in the Mumbai High Court against the property tax notice issued by the Panvel Municipal Corporation. During the hearing of this petition on April 3, 2025, Senior Advocate Ashutosh Kumbhakoni represented the Municipal Corporation.
Adv. Kumbhakoni brought to the attention of the Hon. High Court that, despite the availability of an appeal option under Section 406 of the Municipal Corporation Act against the property tax notice, Deepak Fertilizers did not utilize this option and instead directly filed a writ petition in the High Court.
The High Court directed Deepak Fertilizers to deposit the entire amount of property tax demanded in the notice with the court. However, the advocates for Deepak Fertilizers stated that they were willing to pay only three years’ worth of the tax amount. The Hon. High Court rejected this request and refused to grant any relief to Deepak Fertilizers concerning the property tax matter.
